SKYPE AND NOKIA JOIN FORCES
Skype recently partnered up with Nokia in a deal that would see Skype being integrated into future Nokia devices. The first series of devices that it'll be loaded on are the Nseries devices, and from the publicity picture above, it's pretty apparent that the first Skype-enabled model to hit the market will be the uber sexy Nokia N97.
"The Skype experience will be part of the address book of the Nokia N97, enabling presence – seeing when Skype contacts are online – as well as instant messaging. Nokia N97 owners around the world will also be able to use 3G and WLAN to easily make and receive free Skype-to-Skype voice calls, in addition to low-cost Skype calls to landlines and mobile devices."
People have been asking about Skype on mobile devices forever, and now that it's going to be a reality, I wonder what the telco boys will be thinking? Or has the telco game changed so much that it doesn't matter how many voice calls you make, but rather how much bandwidth (3G or otherwise) you use up?
Press release available after the jump.
