Can You Live Without your Instant Messenger?
If you went crazy when Twitter was down few days ago, here’s a thought; what if all your instant messaging accounts were down? Recently in a survey conducted by the Windows Live team, it shows that 94% of the 1400 respondents in Southeast Asia uses IM for just about everything while 54% of them even uses IM to communicate at work. It seems like IM now also serves as a work tool because almost half of the respondents that uses IM at work admited that IM increases work productivity. Over a third of these respondents uses IM to chat with colleagues and almost 10% of them even chats with their bosses.
However, let not get carried away because IM is definitely not a place for you to propose to your loved ones like 6.8% of the respondents who said they would. Interestingly, whilst 86.5% of people thinks it’s acceptable to ask someone out online, only a third of respondents (33.3%) would actually break up via instant messaging.
