It’s disgusting how some people just enjoy leaving things like their television or computer turned on even when it’s not in use; Mother Nature did not give us such a beautiful place to abuse and no, our resources are not infinite. People have probably already given up on educating these individuals, which is why there are products like the iGo Green Technology line which saves up to 85% of standby power consumption. iGo’s three new products - Power Smart Tower, Power Smart Wall and Laptop Charger - has the ability to detect whether the plugged-in device is in use, and if not, it will shut off the power being drawn from the wall.

These three devices don’t come in cheap though, the Power Smart Tower costs about $80 (RM276), consists of 4 normal outlets and 2 USB jacks. Smart Wall on the other hand, is much more affordable costing $30 (RM103) with half the number of outlets and no USB jacks. The Laptop Charger is the most interesting device, that will charge your laptop only when it is really necessary. Not only will this help save a load on your electricity bill, it’s could make your battery life last longer too since it won’t have to go through unnecessary charging anymore. However, the Laptop Charger costs a whooping $100 (RM345).
