You know that viral marketing is an effective way of advertising when they garnered 2,500 participants to a contest and attracted up to 28,000 visitors to the website. The recent Eon Bank Storm Warriors contest was a huge success with overwhelming response from the public. The bank, believed to be the first local bank to use Web 2.0 tools to reach out to the public for a premier sponsorship and to boost customer base for credit cards, also gave away many merchandise such as The Storm Warrior mini swords and over 2,000 movie tickets.

The 5 winners of the Blog & Win contest that was held last month were invited to meet the movie’s stars Aaron Kwok and Ekin Cheng, who were in Malaysia on 1 December. They were also awarded with 2 premier passes to the movie while the lucky top blogger walked away with an additional Samsung Jet phone. Additionally, Eon Bank also gave away another Samsung Jet phone, red carpet treatment with Gold Class invitations to the movie premier, and other merchandises to the winner of the Upload & Win contest.
