PostHeaderIcon Kaspersky Lab at the South Pole

I don’t know what you’re doing this New Year’s eve, but the team from Kaspersky Lab is set on a journey to the South Pole. Kaspersky just announced that Eugene Kaspersky, the CEO of Kaspersky Lab, and the Director of Kaspersky Lab’s Global Research and Analysis team, Alaxander Gostev, have left Moscow on their glorious journey across Antarctica to the South Pole.

The team began the journey few days ago, after meeting up with Harry Cheung, Managing Director of Kapsersky Lab, APAC at Punta Arenas in Chile, the southernmost city in the world. After receiving a special Antarctic training at Punta Arenas, the team is due at a base camp in Patriot Hills in Antarctica today where they’ll be waiting for a signal from the expedition members to say that they are due to reach the South Pole.

The Kaspersky Lab team will be covering a distance of 900km (6 hours journey) on a specially arranged flight, while the Kaspersky Lab Commonwealth Antarctic Expedition will be covering the distance on skis, each of them to carry 16kg of food and equipment with a sledge. When both teams meet at the southernmost tip of the world, they will be planting a Kaspersky Lab Commonwealth Antarctic Expedition flag before heading back to the Patriot Hills base camp for a celebratory dinner.
