PostHeaderIcon Western Digital Unveils New USB 3.0 External Hard Disk

Ready or not, the new SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standard is ready to take over the torch from USB 2.0. One of the obvious sign is that more and more USB 3.0-based products have started to make their appearance on the market such as the new My Book 3.0 External Hard Drive from the hard drives giant, Western Digital (http://www.westerndigital.com.my).

The new USB 3.0 interface on My Book 3.0 enables it to transfer data at a blazing speed of 5Gbps which is 10 times higher than the previous USB standard. However, your PC must be first equipped with USB 3.0 ports or else, you would stuck with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 transfer speeds, depending on which interface you used on your PC.

Fret not though; WD has also come out with a My Book 3.0 complete solution kit which includes a USB 3.0 PCI Express adapter card. Once you installed the card, not only that you are able to enjoy faster file operations on My Book 3.0, your PC is now fully compatible with all future USB 3.0 products in the market.

The WD My Book 3.0 is available in 1TB capacity with 2GB version to be available soon and is distributed by Amble Action Sdn Bhd, Achieva Technology Sdn Bhd and SiS Distribution (M) Sdn Bhd. The standalone drive comes with a price tag of RM 519 while the complete solution kit is priced at RM 569.

One more product shot is available after the break.
