PostHeaderIcon Go Environmentally-Friendly with a Rewritable Printer

Sometimes, it is sad to see how people print out unnecessary sheets of paper just because they want to remember a short snippet of information, then throw the entire sheet away once they’re done without even being bothered recycle the other side; think about the ink and paper wastage. The PrePeat printer, a tone-less, inkless and rewritable printer showcased at an Eco-Product show in Japan, is the perfect solution for such scenario. That’s right, a rewritable printer that has a magical ability to erase everything on a printed sheet of paper, and print over it again.

The papers are made of a special heat-sensitive plastic material that will react to the special thermal head in the printer, so with an initial investment of about RM32000 (800,000 yen) to buy the printer (RM20000 or 500,000 yen) and 1000 sheets of papers (RM12000 or 300,000 yen), you’ll never have to buy any consumables again. Sure the papers that costs about RM12 per sheet may seem expensive, but it can be reused up to a thousand times, which reduce it to about a mere RM0.012 each time you print it (and be amused by how it can erase the previous document and come out perfectly each time). Additionally, because the printer uses a special thermal head, you’ll never have to buy any ink at all.

The printer seems too good to be true? Well, watch it in action after the jump.
