PostHeaderIcon The Internet: Nominated for Nobel Prize 2010

Believe it or not, the Internet has been reported to be in the running as one of this year’s Nobel Prize probable laureate. It got nominated in the Peace category nonetheless – a pretty confusing fact for many of us who has known and very used to the Net’s unpredictability.

The campaign for the nomination was started by Wired Italy last year (http://www.internetforpeace.it) and has gathered numerous supports from many corporate organizations such Microsoft, Google, MTV, Sony Ericsson and Citroen, just to name a few. Even an actual Nobel Prize winner – Shirin Ebadi who won it in 2003 has also penned her support to the campaign.

However, there is no actual way to confirms Internet’s nomination as the Nobel Prize nomination list was never announced in public and are kept secret for 50 years. That being said, judging from this report by AP/Forbes, we can say that the claim seems to be quite legitimate. If Internet eventually wins the prize, we wonder where the money will go to…hmm.
