Axis Introduces New Thermal Network Cameras
While we cannot deny the importance of video surveillance, regular network cameras are usually not very reliable when are trying to hide from it, especially in the dark. Axis Communications recently expanded its portfolio with thermal network cameras, the first company in the market to offer full-featured thermal network cameras for surveillance. At first glance of the camera in action, it may seem pretty useless because all it can do is show you a bright black and white image of a person walking, but if someone was deliberately hiding in the shadows, the camera would be able to detect the heat radiating off him before alerting the respective personals. The thermal camera can detect heat that radiates off any objects, vehicle or person even in tough situation like darkness, haze, dust and smoke.
“Today’s launch provides our customers with cost-effective, easy-to-install thermal network cameras for professional installations and will promote safety and security in critical areas such as public places, industries, railways, ports and roads. We see a great potential for these new cameras and we are proud to be able to broaden our portfolio and thereby contribute to strengthening our customers’ security systems” – Ray Mauritsson, President, Axis Communications.

Axis also introduced a small and smart HDTV network camera, suitable for locations such as small businesses, boutiques, restaurants, hotels and even residences – the Axis M1054. On top of its ability to capture high definition 720p video at up to 30fps, the M1054 has the most important factor of all, an affordable price. With Power over Ethernet IEEE 802.3af support, the camera can save on installation costs because it only requires one cable for carrying power and video.
For other industry segments, Axis introduced a new range of compact and versatile fixed dome network cameras including the Axis M32 series, designed for retail and other segments that require dependable video surveillance at an affordable cost, and Axis P3304/-V Network Cameras which are the HDTV version of the largely successful Axis P3301 Network Cameras.
