PostHeaderIcon Facebook Turns 5

Facebook, arguably the most successful social networking site to date, turns five this week.

I remember when I first created my Facebook account back in 2006, when I overheard my cousins talking about it. I signed up for an account, added them on my friend list, tinkered around with my profile page, and never logged in again for at least a year.

Friendster was all the rage then, a stark contrast from where it stands in the pecking order today. With 150 million active users in its ranks, Facebook has transformed itself from a dorm room project into a billion dollar business.

Have you ever stopped to wonder how your life would be different without Facebook? On the surface, you probably wouldn’t give it too much thought. But look a little deeper. Analyze your daily routine and your social circle

Would you be as well connected? Would your life be any more or less different? Hell, think of all those long office hours you’d have to endure actually doing real work instead of feigning work and playing Scrabble / Bowling (my personal favorite) / Word Twist in the background.

Well, that’s enough ruminating from me.
Happy Birthday Facebook!
