PostHeaderIcon Canon EOS 500D launches with Simon Yam



Simon Yam, the face of Canon EOS for the past 15 years, made his way to Kuala Lumpur today to unveil the brand new Canon EOS 500D tothe media. Today's proceedings also acted as a double celebration ofsorts, as it was the first SLR launch in Canon's 50th year of being inthe SLR market.

The Canon EOS 500D is targeted at the high-endconsumer market and comes with all the specifications that you'd expectfrom a camera of it's class. Apart from being able to shoot images at awhopping 15.1-megapixels, the 500D also comes with HD video recording capabilities, and Canon's proprietary DIGIC 4 imaging processor. It also gets a boost for low-light shooting since the ISO range has been boosted all the way to 12800.



Actingas the intermediary bridge in the gap between entry level DSLR's andpro level DSLR's, the 500D also comes with features such as a 9-pointautofocus, spot metering, full HD video shooting capabilities (1920 x1080 at 20 fps) and HDMI output.
The Canon EOS 500D package comes with a 18-55mm kit lens and will retail at RM3663. There's word that a 18-200mm kit lens will be released soon too.
