Like Google and Facebook who launched their own URL shortener at Goog.le and Fb.me respectively, YouTube today launched its own version at Youtu.be. The URL will be exclusive to YouTube links so instead of having the long “http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=“ when you’re sharing videos, that entire part will be replaced with just “youtu.be” - particularly useful when you want to share a video on places like Twitter where you’re limited to the number of characters you can key in. This feature will be mostly used on YouTube’s AutoShare feature however, you can also use the new URL manually like youtu.be/SvKL7To6VbM.
