3 Billion Downloads in the Apple App Store

In less than 18 months, the applications download in Apple’s App Store has hit the 3 billion mark, something, even the CEO of Apple has not seen before. The store was launched in July 2008 with just 500 applications and has shot up to more than a 100,000 applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch. In November last year, the App Store reached the 2 billion mark download and gained a whopping 1 billion in just 3 months.
