PostHeaderIcon ...And the Battle Continues between Nokia and Apple

While everybody’s in the mood for holiday this year end, the legal dispute between Nokia and Apple is not even close from taking a break. A couple of months ago, Nokia sued Apple in a Delaware court for infringing 10 of their wireless patents, claiming that all iPhones violate patents held by Nokia for GSM calling, 3G data and Wi-Fi. Apple then responded to the lawsuit by countersuing Nokia for violating 13 Apple-held patents. The General Counsel of Apple also alleges that Nokia is exploiting work on products like the iPhone to maintain its competitiveness in the market.

Last Tuesday, Nokia in response filed a complaint to the US ITC (International Trade Commission) stating that virtually all products made by Apple infringe 7 Nokia patents on hardware-related parts such as antennas, cameras and power management. Although Nokia did not state its purpose of the suit, it is believed that most ITC complaints usually seek import bans to prevent the company from selling certain products.Looks like this legal dispute will take a while to be settled, especially if Apple is going to take another 2 months to respond.
