PostHeaderIcon China Mobile to Ban Users Who Distribute Illegal Contents via SMS

If Google isn’t going to censor its search results in China, their Chinese mobile company, China Mobile, will and even ban its users for violation. The world’s biggest cellphone operator, with about 518.1 million subscribers (as of the end of November 2009), is reported to be helping the Chinese police in a campaign to crack down on “illegal” short-text messages. The mobile company will be implementing a checking system that will report users who distribute obscene, violent or other “unhealthy” messages. These users will be banned, and those who wish to reactivate their service will have to promise in writing to not distribute such contents in the future. What a great way to encourage subscribers to switch their mobile network.
