Windows 7 Helps Boost the Revenue for Microsoft

After reporting a decline in revenue for three consecutive quarters in the year of 2009, Microsoft has finally made its way back up the ladder in the latest quarter reporting a revenue of $19.02 billion, a 14% year-on-year increase while the net income soared 60% in total. The main reason for the increase was of course due to the launch of Windows 7. Since the launch, Microsoft directly sold 60 million copies of the new operating system, recording the highest ever number of copies of OS sold in a single quarter. The number was also partly contributed by a $1.71 billion in deferred revenues like the pre-sales of Windows 7 to upgraders and PC builders.
