PostHeaderIcon Lexmark Helps Mydin Save 40% on its Printing Expenditure

A couple of days ago, Lexmark invited us to a tour around Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad in Subang Jaya, demonstrating how Lexmark printers have helped Mydin achieve up to a 40% savings on its printing expenditures. Unlike small companies whereby one may not pay as much attention to their printing needs, as a big company that manages the Mydin chain of stores and hypermarkets, and have approximately 2000 users, 40% is a tremendously large of money saved on just printing services alone. The implementation of a range of different Lexmark printers in Mydin also helped the company consolidate from a whopping 200 devices to a mere 80 Lexmark laser multifunction products (MFPs) and single-function printers.  I’m not trying to be a tree-hugger here, but think about how many trees could be saved if all companies, especially large ones like Mydin, take such initiative.

“While visiting Mydin’s premises to get a firsthand look at their working environment, we analyzed opportunities in several areas that Lexmark could immediately impact with its equipment and expertise in MPS. Working closely with Mydin on their deployment and implementation strategies, we have upgraded their infrastructure and reduced their environmental footprint, all while helping to lower their printing costs.” -- William Tan, Country Manager, Lexmark Malaysia.
Hit the jump for more information.

As such a large company with a big office that has many employees, Mydin had to previously allocate a printer for every couple of staffs just in case they need to print out confidential information that needs to be collected immediately. But because the implemented Lexmark printers that comes with a card scanner that requires users to scan before they can start their specific print jobs, not only is it safer for staffs to print out things like pay slips, invoices and such, users can choose to print at whichever printer they wish to by just scanning their card. With that, Mydin is now also able to monitor the printing jobs for each of their employee, thus reducing personal usage of company’s properties.
“Lexmark’s MPS has put all of Mydin’s printers on a single network, so we can easily transfer print jobs in the event of any technical downtime. No more delay in issuing documentations. Lexmark’s MPS also allows Mydin’s management to monitor usage of print equipment and consumables and enforce quotas for color printing, photocopying, and other output where necessary. With a centralized network, it was so simple to generate reports on the print resources consumed by each department and that has worked wonders towards encouraging responsibility towards usage of office equipment and supplies. Furthermore, Lexmark now manages all equipment and supplies of print consumables, thus equipment upkeep is no longer a hassle and we don’t need to stock large amount of print supplies for a large range of printer models. In fact, we have reduced our inventory of printers by 60% nationwide.” -- Malik Murad Ali, IT Director, Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad.
