PostHeaderIcon PS3: So Long Linux

It looks like you don’t get much perks from staying loyal and using the phat PlayStation 3 because first, you’re the only ones that had to endure a PSN error on 1 March due to some leap year settings and now, you won’t be able to run Linux anymore. Sony recently announced a new PS3 firmware version 3.21 which will be released on Thursday however, the “Other OS” option will no longer be available for the old PS3 – yes, so you won’t get to install Linux anymore. You can always choose not to update, but it will only mean that you’ll be losing access to the PlayStation Network, and playback of games and Blu-ray moves that requires the new software – you’re going to have to update when 3D playback is ready. Just a simple recommendation for those who wish to get a second hand fat PS3, don’t. Who knows what else might be disabled; it’s a more secure system anyway, according to Sony at least.
