Augmented Reality Help Buyers Preview Their Legos
Posted by
Bumtion Network
While the illustrations on Lego box usually able to
describe its content very well, nothing
beats seeing them as a finished product. The problem is that retailers
usually have tons
of Lego sets around and it is quite impossible to build samples for
each of them. Soon, this problem would be a thing of the past with the
help of augmented
reality technology.
Through a system called Lego
Digital Box - co-developed by Lego
Digital Systems and metaio (who
also responsible for the Adidas
Originals
AR Game Pak), all customers got to do is put the Lego box in front
of
the kiosk’s camera and voila, the animated representation of the
finished Lego
set is shown on the screen. Lego has already started to deploy the AR
kiosk to
all Lego stores worldwide, so we are definitely going to see this at
local Lego
retailers very-very soon.
Check it out in action right after the break.
