PostHeaderIcon Autodesk releases SketchBook Pro for the iPad

Before the iPad went on sale, scores of people were puzzled as to what the 10-inch tablet would be good for, but after merely a week, over 3500 built-for-iPad apps appeared on the Apple App Store. While we still can’t pinpoint exactly what the iPad will be primarily be used for here in Malaysia (even more so since the announcement of the delay in international deployment), but this quaint little app by design aficionados Autodesk has given us quite a good idea.
Called SketchBook Pro, this new iPad app (well, aren’t they all new?) combines a vast array of digital pencils, pens, markers and airbrushes with the iPad’s multi-touch gesture based interface and turns your iPad into one of the coolest digital sketchbooks that we’ve seen.
SketchBook Pro utilizes the same paint engine on the iPad version as is used on its desktop counterpart, and since it carry’s the Autodesk brand name – one that is associated to some of the most immersive digitally enhanced Hollywood blockbusters of recent times such as Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, Iron Man, and even the upcoming Iron Man 2 – you know that it’s bound to ooze with class.
The Autodesk SketchBook Pro App for iPad is available for US$7.99 exclusively through the App Store on iPad at www.itunes.com/appstore. Also available on the App Store is Autodesk SketchBook Mobile for iPhone and iPod touch. To learn more about the SketchBook products, hit up www.autodesk.com/sketchbookpro.
