PostHeaderIcon BMW X1 Launch

The BMW X1 is finally here, bringing you a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) that is here to create a new segment in premium motoring. It features a youthful sport-centric design and provides great agility and versatility with its large luggage compartment of 420 litres or 1,350 litres with its rear seats folded down.
What's best about this new addition to BMW - on top of the superior performance and premium interior - is its amazing fuel efficiency, the first of its kind with CO2 emission below 170g per kilometre. In conjunction with Malaysia's commitment to reduce carbon emission from cars by the year 2020, the X1 is the first in Malaysia that promises the lowest CO2 emission. It's nice to finally have a vehicle that helps to actively combat the growing challenge of climate change and environmental degradation - I cannot imagine the weather getting worse than it is now.

The X1 is currently available in diesel, the xDrive20d, and by June 2010, BMW will be introducing a petrol version as well, the sDrive18i. Featuring the latest BMW Advanced Diesel Technology and with a 2 litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, the BMW X1 is capable of producing 130kw/177hp, 350Nm of torque and completes the 0-100kmh sprint in only 8.6 seconds. Both variants of the X1 also features best in its class fuel efficiency as its six-speed automatic transmission provides a unique ratio between driving dynamics and fuel consumptions.

While the xDrive20d features the xDrive system, the most intelligent and responsive all-wheel drive system made available in a compact car that can allow driving torque to be variably distributed between the front and rear axles to enhance agility and ensure higher levels of grip (particularly for cornering), the sDrive oh the other hand provides customers with an SUV option that boasts the agile and sporty driving dynamics that can be typically found in all of BMW’s rear-wheel drive models without sacrificing any of the BMW X1’s fuel efficiency.

Both the xDrive and sDrive systems are naturally connected to Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and the engine management on the BMW X1, with sensors on the wheel to detect and counter the slightest tendency for the vehicle to over-steer or under-steer. DSC comprises of ABS anti-lock break function, Dynamic Break Control, CBC Cornering Break Control and Dynamic Traction Control which provides added stability to the SAV.
The retail price for the BMW X1 xDrive20d and the BMW X1 sDrive 18i (on the road price including personal road tax and registration and inclusive of 3-year BMW Service + Repair Inclusive package) are as follows:
BMW X1 xDrive20d - RM299,800
BMW X1 sDrive18i - RM263,800 (Available from June 2010)
