PostHeaderIcon Western Digital Unleash Standard-Height 2.5-inch 750GB HDD

While desktop hard drive’s storage space has reach the Terabyte (TB) realms since a while back, things are not the same with notebook HDDs due to its restrictive 2.5-inch form factor. True, there are notebook HDDs on the market with storage size in the region of TB but they are rather taller than the form factor’s standard height of 9mm which could spell trouble if you forgot to measure your laptop’s HDD cavity.
That being said, Western Digital has recently managed to push the storage barrier of 2.5-inch form factor further in order to pack 750GB into standard-height notebook HDD, that is the new WD Scorpio Blue (model WD7500BPVT) HDD. Sure, it is still not a 1TB HDD but that 750GB worth of storage is currently the industry’s highest capacity on a standard-height 2.5-inch hard drive.
On the technical side, the new Scorpio Blue spots a 3 Gb/s SATA interface and equipped with plethora of WD’s technology such as Advanced Format Technology, WhisperDrive, ShockGuard and SecurePark. Its rotational speed is rather slow though at 5,400 RPM but then, the huge storage space that it has pretty much made up (kind of) for its lack of speed.
So, if you want to pack some huge storage into your laptop, check out the new HDD from WD - yours, for RM 515 per unit - at select retailers. As usual, don't forget to login to WD’s official website (http://www.wdc.com) for more details.
