Autodesk launches 2011 editions of Maya and 3ds Max

3D imaging is becoming ever present in today’s day and age,
and makes frequent appearances not only on the silver screen in
blockbusters
such as Avatar and the Iron Man franchise, but also on TV screens in
homes around
the world through today’s powerful consoles such as the Sony Playstation
3 with
games like Assassin’s Creed II, The Beatles: Rock Band and WET.
Autodesk, a company
that had a hand in creating the stunning visuals and 3D environments in
all the
above mentioned titles, today launched the 2011 versions of 3D
powerhouse tools
Autodesk Maya, Autodesk 3ds Max and
Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suites with the
promise that 3D animation and modelling will now be easier than ever.
“With these tools, artists can produce innovative 3D modelling and animation, stunning visual effects, and even embrace stereoscopic 3D as part of their storytelling process to develop an entirely new creative entertainment experience. The enhanced solutions empower artists with a winning edge throughout the process – from design to development through production” – CS Tan, Country Manager, Autodesk Malaysia.
Story continues after the jump.

Autodesk Maya 2011 (1
year subscription @ RM19,700) comes enhanced with a brand new
customizable interface,
high performance viewports and a first
of its kind in-application 3D editorial interface. These new
enhancements help
to reduce time wasted on rendering the same scene over and over to
achieve
various viewpoints, since the 3D editorial interface now allows you to
edit
scenes directly in Maya.

Autodesk 3ds Max (1
year subscription @ RM19,700) also comes with extremely useful
timesaving
enhancements such as the object brush which allows you to easily clone
3D assets
as if they were paint brushes. Speaking of brushes, 3ds Max 2011 also
allows lets
you quickly and easily manipulate existing 3D assets with paint and
texture
brushes.
Another key enhancement available in the 2011 versions is in
the Quicksilver rendering engine that not only underwent coding
optimization,
but also gained GPU acceleration support for CUDA enabled machines,
resulting
in a 10x speed gain over previous versions. Maya’s viewport technology
also
benefits from code optimization and GPU acceleration, and clocks a
whopping 30x
performance increment.
“5 days’ worth of work can now be done in 5 minutes!” – Matt Dewees, Application Engineer, Autodesk
Available for Windows and now for the Mac too, Autodesk Maya
2011 and Autodesk 3ds Max is available for download to existing
subscribers at http://asean.autodesk.com.
