Mobile phone maker Motorola unveiled on Wednesday at the International 2010 Consumer Electronics Show its latest handset powered by the Google Android operating system, the Motorola BACKFLIP with MOTOBLUR. Most of you might be already familiar with the handset, as it leaked into the wild a few months ago, and should know that the most interesting feature it comes with is its reverse-flip QWERTY keyboard.

However, this is not all when it comes to this handset, Motorola notes. The BACKFLIP also sports great typing capabilities doe to the aforementioned QWERTY keyboard, and it includes appealing connectivity options, with support for social networking sites, email, messaging and more. At the same time, the MOTOBLUR solution with its personalization options and the handset's multitasking performance are meant to enhance the experience one will receive from it even more.

“Since introducing our first MOTOBLUR-based device, we’ve remained focused on differentiating the Android experience and bringing it to new carrier partners around the globe,” said Sanjay Jha, co-CEO of Motorola and CEO of Motorola Mobile Devices. “BACKFLIP maximizes the multi-tasking and multi-functional potential of MOTOBLUR with its unique design elements, making it as smart as it is social.”

The Motorola BACKFLIP comes with a high-res 3.1-inch HVGA screen, a new and unique BACKTRACK feature (a touch panel on the other side of the handset for a new scrolling experience when Web, texts, e-mails and news feeds are involved), Bluetooth, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity capabilities, a 5-megapixel photo snapper, GPS receiver and more. At the same time, the phone will sync content (contacts, posts, messages, photos and more) from various sources, including Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Gmail, personal email and other sources.

According to Motorola, the new BACKFLIP with MOTOBLUR is expected to become available in markets in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia at the beginning of the first quarter of the ongoing year. Also present at CES 2010 was wireless carrier AT&T, which announced plans to launch Android phones during the first half of the year, and which said as well that it will have a Motorola smartphone with MOTOBLUR and with a unique form factor, so there are great chances that BACKFLIP will make an appearance on its airwaves shortly.
