Steve McCurry & Epson Malaysia 'Faith & the Common Good' Photo Contest
Great news for photographers, Steve McCurry, an American photojournalist best known for his photograph “Afghan Girl” is having his first exhibition in Malaysia, and his sponsor, Epson Malaysia, together with ruumz.com are holding a nationwide online photo contest entitled “Faith and the Common Good” on 11 February.
From 11 February to 7 March 2010, log on to www.epsonphotos.ruumz.com to submit your pictures of the common good all Malaysians strive for – charity, peace, kindness, honesty, love, harmony and positively contributing to the neighbors, family and society at large.
“We want to show Malaysians how photographs of leading artists like Steve McCurry as well as those of their fellow Malaysian contestant can inspire viewers and even change opinions. The Epson Malaysia ‘Faith and the Common Good’ Photo ContestThe contest will be held between February 11 and March 7, 2010 at www.epsonphotos.ruumz.com. Drawing on Steve McCurry’s travels and the theme of his exhibition “A Common Faith”, the contest will accept photo submissions that capture artists’ perception of the common good all Malaysians strive for – charity, peace, kindness, honesty, love, harmony and positively contributing to the neighbors, family and society at large. The contest is open to all residents of Malaysia who are 13 years of age or older. Each participating photographer will have to register on www.epsonphotos.ruumz.com and will be allowed to submit up to three photographs.
Selection of Winners
The public will be invited to vote for their favorite photos and the three most popular ones will win Epson Photo printers and other goodies worth a total of RM3,000. On top that, three lucky winners’ work will be chosen by Steve McCurry as his favorite, which will serve as a lofty endorsement of their skills and work. They will also receive Epson Photo Printers and goodies worth over RM3,000.
As tribute to their photographers’ talent, the top 20 most popular entries will have their photos reproduced in large format print by the same printer used to produce Steve McCurry’s exhibition prints: the Epson Stylus Pro 9900,
To further encourage public to participate this contest, Epson will also award the top three ‘sharers’ (people who share the link to the contest photographs the most) an Epson Stylus T10 Inkjet Printer, on a weekly basis, thus rewarding a total of nine top contest sharers.
