PostHeaderIcon Nintendo Suffers its First Fall in 6 Years

All along I thought that Nintendo has been doing very well with its games and consoles, but unfortunately, according to reports, Nintendo is now suffering its first drop in annual profit in 6 years – down by a massive 36% in the year to 31 March. The company saw a 13% drop in sales for its portable console, the Nintendo DS, while the Wii dropped by 20.8% to 20.5 million consoles. Although Nintendo is still expecting the worst for the Wii in the new year, expecting a lower sales of only 18million units, the company seem very confident that the Nintendo DS will be stronger in 2011 – go Nintendo 3DS! While Nintendo didn’t specify the reason for the dip in sales, it is believed that it could be due to an increased competition from Sony and Microsoft, and even Apple devices like the iPhone and iPad.
