PostHeaderIcon MSN Live Messenger: Of idle banter and increased productivity

If you're an employer that's irked by your staff's excessive MSN habits, then take a breather and read on. According to a recent survey that was conducted by the Windows Live team, 59.4% of the respondents claim that MSN doesn't affect their productivity in a negative way. In fact, they go as far as to claim that it increases productivity!

Up to 60.5% of the respondents applaud the ease of use that MSN provides in terms of document and file sharing, while 37.7% say that MSN is a major communication tool within the office - that's 37.7% of respondents that would be extremely unhappy should you decide to block off MSN use in your workplace.

But if that isn't reason enough for you to continue letting them use MSN in the workplace, then maybe this would help you reconsider: 12.1% of the respondents say that they use it to communicate with their clients. Formal? Definitely not. Practical? Probably so. Cost efficient? Absolutely.

Still not convinced? Then we're guessing you don't fall within the 10% of employers who constantly use it to keep in contact with their employees. Maybe it's time to try something new, huh?

*All figures are taken from the "INSTANT MESSAGING TOOLS INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY" report by the Windows Live team.
