PostHeaderIcon Google Chrome OS-based Netbook: For Real?

Looks like Google is ready to take their Chrome OS to the next level. The rumour mill is currently running hot with news that Google is currently in talks with a number of manufacturers, in order to produce Chrome OS-based netbooks that will also comes with a number of Google Apps pre-installed together.

It is reported that the netbook, which is expected to be out sometime around Christmas 2010, will come with this set of specification:

- ARM CPU
- NVIDIA Tegra chipsets
- 10.1" HD-ready multi-touch display
- 64GB solid state drive
- 2GB of RAM
- Common neccesities such as 3G, Bluetooth, Ethernet, USB ports, WiFi and others

The rumor further stated that the Google will be subsidizing the netbook in order to give it a sub-RM 1030 (USD 300) price tag. The netbook will be available directly from Google themselves or in some markets, as a part of 3G package, in partnership with network operators.

If these details proved to be true, the netbook world is going to get a little bit more exciting very soon.
