It looks like the Koreans are embracing LED TV technology a little quicker than the rest of the world – well, at least here in Malaysia that is.

Yesterday, Korean electronics makers LG, launched their very first LED TV here in Malaysia called the SL90, pushing the grand total of brands with an LED TV on the local market to two. Measuring only 2.9cm thin, the SL90 isn’t just a pretty sight to behold – it produces an extremely high dynamic contrast ratio of 3000 : 1, and displays images at Full HD 1080p resolution too. With the addition of TruMotion 100Hz technology, viewers will also be treated to exceptional picture clarity without any risk of image ghosting.

The sleek SL90 also comes with a built-in Bluetooth receiver that allows you to stream music, video and pictures directly from another Bluetooth enabled device without the need for any pesky cables. That, topped off with the Smart Energy Saving Plus technology – a technology that reduces energy consumption by up to 70% – makes for a very, very sexy TV.

Now, all that is fine and dandy, but before you jizz your pants, we’ll have you know that the SL90 doesn’t exactly come cheap. The 47-inch model retails at RM10,999 while the 42-incher goes for RM7,499 – prices reminiscent to those of plasma and LCD TV’s when they first hit the market oh-so-many-years ago.

But who are we kidding. If you’re an early adopter, you’ll definitely want to get your hands on one of these babies no matter what the cost, right? Oh, and if it helps you justify getting off the fence, you might want to know that LG received a whopping 15 awards during the recent CES, so rest assured that these boys sure know what they’re doing.
