A Replacement for Plastic at Last?

While I completely support the usage of environmentally friendly bags when shopping, there are things that can’t do without plastic, like wrappers and containers. Researchers have recently discovered that hydrogels, when combined with clay, could be a replacement to plastics in the future. Without clay, water-based hydrogels are too soft to make much use out of it, but when mixed with clay, the new substance can be molded into shapes that are free-standing, and will even heal itself when there’s a tear. It’ll be great if plastics could be replaced, you’ll be surprised by the number of people who don’t know how plastics can harm the environment!
