Calling all aspiring freelance Canon photographers! You probably already know the pitfalls and hardship associated with going out there and earning money from your photographs. Today, Canon announced the inauguration of its new “EOS Buddy Club”, with the aim of creating a common platform to share industry updates, trade initiatives and to hone members’ skills through workshops. The EOS Buddy Club also serves as a database for potential clients to find suitable photographers for their assignments. Membership to this club also entitles you to online web hosting for your professional profile and portfolio website and discounts on the rental of all lenses and selected accessories based on your membership level.

There are 3 levels of membership you can apply for in the EOS Buddy Club; Sapphire, Diamond and Gold. To even consider applying, you must be: 

Over 18 years of age

 

Currently residing in Malaysia

 

Have at least 3 years experience as a photographer and also actively involved in photography activities 

 

Unaffiliated with any competitors of Canon

 

Where the different tiers come into play is according to the gear that you own: 

Platinum: Must own at least one EOS 1 series body & an L Lens 

Diamond: Must own one EOS Single Digit series body (5DMKII, 7D) & an L Lens 

Gold: Must own one EOD Double Digit series body (40D, 50D) & 2 Canon Lenses

The official launch of the EOS Buddy Club will be during the DCIM fair at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre on the 14^th May 2010. For the first 20 people who register online, they will be given a chance to display their work in booths sponsored by Canon.
