PostHeaderIcon Core i7 Macbook Pro: burner of thighs worldwide

My 15-inch late 08 Macbook Pro is hot. So hot that even when I rev my fans up, I’ll still be hitting about the high 60’s to 70’s when playing a graphics intensive game, or doing some crazy editing work. My lap would be crying out to me, leaving me no choice but to employ the “magazine-on-the-lap” tactic, saving it from 3rd degree burns. As the new Core i5/i7 Macbook Pros were released recently, I like many old Macbook Pro owners have played around with the idea of an upgrade, typing and deleting those 3 letters, WTS over and over again.

Now, I’m not so sure.
I’ve always known that the i5/i7’s would get hot, but PC Authority Australia has now put some numbers to it. They found that after running a benchmark suite in both Windows and Mac environments, the CPU temperature would reach an astounding average of 100 degrees Celsius.  My thighs whimpered at that number. Furthermore, the whole body of the Macbook Pro is one big aluminium heatsink, probably able to cook you dinner with correct placements of aluminium foil. Sure the Macbook Pro looks incredibly sleek and ironically “cool” but with poor heat dissipation like that, my thighs agree that I’m sticking to my older, “cooler”, model.
