PostHeaderIcon Sony To Bring FIFA World Cup in 3D

Well, they are not the first but the FIFA World Cup 2010 is certainly going to be the biggest 3D-enabled sporting event in the world - with the help of their partner, Sony. The revelation was made quite a while ago but the two parties has just released a joint announcement last week in order to provide more insight on their 3D broadcast plans.
The 3D-enabled recordings are made possible by seven pairs of Sony HDC-1500 cameras which will then be processed through Sony MPE200 multi image processor and 3D Outside Broadcast truck at 25 selected matches. These matches will then be made available to several 3D channels across the world during the tournament period and an official compilation in Blu-ray disc that is scheduled to be released sometime after the event.
Not to forget, eight of those 3D matches will also be screened live from South Africa to digital cinemas and selected venues worldwide. But as our coverage of the recent Sony 3D Expo has pointed out, Sony Malaysia has yet to confirm whether 3D-enabled World Cup broadcast will be available for our country or not.
It would be very disappointing if Malaysia - the home of Asian Football Confederation - didn't get to enjoy at least one live 3D match, isn't it?
