PostHeaderIcon Nikon opens largest Centre in South East Asia

One of the problems with buying a DSLR, is that shop owners are usually reluctant to give you hands on time with the product before purchase. This is because in the world of DSLR cameras, shutter count determines how “new” a product really is.

In other words, buying a DSLR from your neighbourhood camera shop is much like buying a car from your local dealership – you’ll only be able to test drive the product if there’s a designated test drive unit available. But if there isn’t one, then tough luck to you, because we’re pretty sure that the proprietor isn’t about to unwrap a spankin’ new unit just to let you “test” how good it is.

You wouldn’t want to buy a car with a thousand clicks on the odometer, would you? So why would you settle for a DSLR with a thousand clicks on the shutter counter?

Realizing this, as well as the steady surge in DSLR pickup, Nikon have teamed up with Futuromic Photo AV Sdn Bhd to open South East Asia’s largest Nikon Centre in Berjaya Times Square.

Story continues after the jump.

Situated on the first floor of Berjaya Times Square, the new Nikon Centre which officially opened today, acts as a one-stop venue for photography enthusiasts and the public to have an up close and personal experience with Nikon’s full range of photography gear.

Everything from Nikon’s latest point-and-shoot range to their top end DSLR cameras equipped with lenses that would give even seasoned photogs wet dreams, are out on display and are ready to be molested by your grubby hands.

Apart from being a Nikon camera playground, the Nikon Centre also houses a service desk and repair department where Nikon owners can drop off their damaged / faulty cameras to the hands of trained experts for repairs too.

There’s also a gallery corner in the Centre, that not only displays splendidly shot photos (from Nikon cameras no less), but also doubles up as a space for various seminars and workshops. Currently on display is the At the heart of the image #1 (7 Jan ~ 28 Feb 2010) exhibition, that features some “heartfelt works by invited Malaysian photographers of diverse practices, interest of subjects and the use of the cameras that finds representation and meaning in them”, so do drop by the Nikon Centre to check it out.
