PostHeaderIcon 128GB Blu-ray Discs

If 50GB of storage space in a Blu-ray disc is not enough for you, then you’ll be happy to hear that the Blu-ray Disc Association is coming out with a 128GB version. But every piece of good news comes with something bad, you’re going to have to buy new Blu-ray players for your home because current hardware will not be able to read the new three to four layer deep discs; yes, not even a firmware update can save your PS3 this time. The new BDXL format is capable of holding up to 128GB (write once) or 100GB (rewritable). I dare not imagine the price of the disc and player when they become available, but on the better side, it’s not available yet anywhere around the world, and will probably take a long time to reach Malaysia; let’s hope by that time Sony would’ve already figured out a solution to allow PS3 to read those discs.
