But every piece of good news comes with something bad, you’re going to have to buy new Blu-ray players for your home because current hardware will not be able to read the new three to four layer deep discs; yes, not even a firmware update can save your PS3 this time. The new BDXL format is capable of holding up to 128GB (write once) or 100GB (rewritable). I dare not imagine the price of the disc and player when they become available, but on the better side, it’s not available yet anywhere around the world, and will probably take a long time to reach Malaysia; let’s hope by that time Sony would’ve already figured out a solution to allow PS3 to read those discs.
