PostHeaderIcon House Finale Shot On A Canon 5D Mark 2

It turns out the season finale of the popular American TV series House MD was shot completely on a Canon 5D Mark 2, director Greg Yaitanes revealed yesterday. The camera which records in full 1080p HD, has been known to produce amazing HD video footage and even had a hand in recording various shorts and video podcasts, but never a major TV series.
A combination of Canon prime lenses, 24-70mm and 70-200mm were used for this unorthodox method of filming and, what’s even more shocking is that for the hand held scenes, no Image Stabilization was used! It takes some hands to be able to pull that off, especially with the monster 70-200mm (Although I doubt they used that lens hand held).
While I don’t think that VDSLRs like the 5D Mark 2 and the 550D from Canon will completely replace the traditional professional video camera, it’s amazing at how far we have come since the cameras of yore. Who knows what’s next, full motion movie anyone?
